Best Budget Laptop
Working as a computer hardware in a very large organisation I get to see and review new laptops every week. Based on my experience I am going to list my top budget laptops or notebooks: I define a budget laptop as one whose price is below 40K. Dell Vostro 1500 The Dell Vostro 1500 is marketed as a small business computer, but it is an excellent buy for anyone on a limited budget. The basic config comes with a 15.4" widescreen , Core 2 Duo processor, 2 GB of RAM, a 250 GB hard drive, wireless connectivity and a DVD burner. The Vostro 1500 weighs about seven pounds and has a 15.4-inch widescreen display. The Vostro 1500 includes a one-year limited warranty. Acer Aspire 2920 Around the same price as the Vostro 1500 but with a smaller (12") screen this notebook is a great buy for people on the move. Aspire 2920 is part of the Gemstone series, and sports a Ceramic-finish Pearl Grey interior along with a holographic Satin-finish cover. The notebook is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processor T9300, and developed especially for professionals and women as it offers high performance mobility. The machine supports mobile GM965 Express chipset and Wireless WiFi Link, Bluetooth network solution. It features a 12.1-inches WXGA Crystal Brite TFT LCD display, 160GB HDD, 2GB RAM, Web cam, and DVD writer. The laptop has battery life of up to three-and-a-half hours. The user can also choose optimum settings to extend battery time with Acer's ePowerManagement feature. The 2920 bristles with ports for its size: three USB ports, one Express Card 54, SD/xD/MS card reader, S-video and VGA out. Last edited by AJAY81; 24-03-08 at 02:18 PM. |

I would also recommend the new Compaq Presario V3700 series of notebooks which are avaible for under 40K.
It is a great buy with Core 2 Duo T7500 Processor 2.2GHz, 2GB RAM, 80 GB HDD, DVD writer, 3 x USB2.0; FireWire; VGA-out; S-video out, and a 14" widescreen, wireless, fax/data card, express card and more. Last edited by Raj; 26-03-08 at 10:28 AM. |

Also for live streaming quotes (for day trading) it is best to get a laptop with a good processor and at least a 7200 rpm HDD. Give me your budget and I will dig out some recommendations. |

i wud like to use a laptop for trading purpose with a professional attitude. ie a laptop which is really fast for incoming live data feed from two servers at a time ie one from my brokers office giving me atrading platform to trade instantly as and when i see oppurtunities tu trade and other live data feed cuming from my software vendor ie spider software, or reliable software, or maybe even viratech fellows. this laptop should be able to handle at least 6 tu 8 miniscreens in side my live tech analyse software for immedieate analyssis,ie wwkly,daily,60mint, 30mint,,15mint,5mint,imintcandlestick charts with live data feeds,. also when i press alt and tab it it shud immed show my tradinf platform live to execute trades as and when reqd. also it shud have alot of instant access memory, and huge storage with at least minimum 2 tu 2.5 hrs battery life so that even if there is sudden power shortage i can trade easily. it shud be at least 17" in screen and budget wud be maybe 50k to 75k.in between please suggest a sturdy and robust model which i can use for atleast 5tu 7 years without any hasseles.

My initial recommendation would be a Dell Vostro 1710 which can be bought for between 50-75K depending on your config. You can have a look at its specs and modify the config to suit your requirements at Featured Laptop
This notebook is rugged and for a longer battery life select the 8-cell lithium battery. If you have any further questions please feel free to ask. |

Like I said that I would prefer the Vostro to the Inspirion line as the Vostro is a more rugged line and hence it would be more durable in the long run.
I have configured a Dell Vostro 17" with 3 year warranty. You can view it below. http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/9073/delljg0.gif |
