Notebook Screen Size
What Notebook Screen Size would be suitable for you?? 17-inch screens or larger Note books with 17-inch screens or larger are generally considered as desktop replacements are meant to replace your desktop computer and aren’t meant to travel very far. They typically feature the fastest processors available, and in many cases feature discrete graphics cards that can handle at least some 3D games. They also have the shortest battery life and weigh the most. 15.4-inch screens displays Notebooks with a 15.4 inch screen strike a good balance between power and portability, and they’re the most popular choice for consumers and generally weigh less than 7 pounds or 3.25kgs. They’re perfect for living-room computing and allow for full productivity and reasonable mobility, without too much sacrifice, so long as you don’t commute with it. If you just need a notebook you can take from room to room, this is a nice size to get. 13.3-inch or 14.1-inch screen displays These notebooks are the smaller, thinner cousins of mainstream notebooks. They include models like the Apple MacBook (great for students) and the Dell XPS M1330 (great for demanding road warriors). they generally weigh less than 6 pounds and they offer plenty of power for most users and are light enough to take to and from work or on the road. 12inch or less screen size These are great for full time travelling. Some of these laptops have full-sized keyboards. That and the screen size are necessary tradeoffs for their mobility. Note: Not all ultraportables come with optical drives, so be sure to check for one before you buy if you want to be able to install, read, or burn discs. A good example of this is the Thinkpad x300! |

With notebooks like the ASUS EEEC pocket PC, I think we need to include the 8" in the list too.

15.4 inch is enough but high resolution. Like what dell provides in the states with the XPS 1503 15.4" screen with High resolutions of upto 1920 x 1200 Full HD.
17" for gaming. Its a delaight to use i presently use one a hi-rez 17" but the sheer size of the laptop does raise some portability concerns. But for performance its amazing. ![]()

I have a 2 year old 14.1" 4:3 SXGA+ (1400 × 1050 pixels) Thinkpad which is great. My only initial problem was getting used to the small font size. However when one gets used to it the extra screen space is a boon.
I hope the 4:3 form factor would still be available when I am ready to buy another notebook. |
