Default Which internet datacard for my laptop

Hi,

I am going to be on a major travel spree over the next 3 months and would like some recommendation on a net connect card.

My company has provided me with a laptop and I need to decide between tata, reliance and airtel net connect cards.

Which provider should I use and whey??

I think the best internet datacard for your needs would be Reliance Netconnect as their coverage is very wide when compared to others.

You can connect either by USB or the express card. I have used this service and their speeds are around 130-150kbps.

I have not tried any of the others so it would be difficult to recommend them.

Please remember that your Reliance NetConnect data card's performance depends on signal strength at your place and traffic/network congestion.

Speeds will vary depending on the above. Reliance definately has the best coverage, no doubt about that.

The prepaid plan cost is 60ps/minute.

I just found out that Reliance has the best network coverage (even in small towns) followed by Airtel.

From what I understand Reliance offers better speed than Airtel.

Any Airtel data card users??

Technically the speed offered by Airtel's data edge card should be aroung 230kbps which is more than Reliance's 150kbps.

The speed will again vary depending on location and network congestion.

These high speeds of Airtel will be available only on EDGE networks. Not all of Airtel's netwoks have EDGE capability.

Although the Reliance has slower sppeds compared to Airtel, it is much more reliable when travelling.

I have used Reliance with my notebook during my extensive travels in N. India last year and I had no problems whatsoever. My associate had Airtel and I found him using my notebook most times to access his email.

Hi Guys,

I use the tata's plug2surf on the move and need to connect to a server for work ,though the network shows full strength I get timed out or get a message connection has been reset by peer. I 've done a speed test and it always shows speeds greater than 80 KbpS which is sufficient for my needs.

This never happens with a broadband connection.

How do I resolve this.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

This primarly happens because the Tata server logs off or disconnects inactive connections (when there is no data transfer for a specified period of time).

To avoid disconnections try pinging a site like yahoo.com google.com etc.

You can also use these freeware tools to help you:

Connection Keeper free download. Connection Keeper prevents your Internet connection from appearing idle or inactive. It does this using almost no bandwidth or system resources. If a ...

Stay Alive free download. Avoid ISP disconnection. Stay Alive keeps your online connection alive by simulating real Internet usage. Don't be disconnected for inactivity again, ...
